EquiJet Supports the Fight Against Breast Cancer at Challenge of the Americas
Wellington, Fla. – March 12, 2019 – EquiJet was proud to be a 2019 “Partner for Pink” sponsor of The Challenge of the Americas, held March 8 in Wellington, Florida at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival. The Challenge of the Americas returned for its 16th anniversary to continue its fight against breast cancer, and EquiJet was honored to be able to support the organization’s worthy mission. The annual fundraiser benefits the Breast Cancer Research Foundation through its partner Play for P.I.N.K., and is a one-of-a-kind affair highlighting the equestrian sport of dressage.
“Sponsoring this event was important to us because breast cancer has personally affected our family,” commented Bastian Schroeder, founder and president of EquiJet. “We were so happy to be involved for the first time this year, and hope that our contribution will be able to support breast cancer research, even in some small way. The event itself was so exciting, and we especially loved that we could combine equestrian sport with a worthwhile cause.”
During the feature event, top-level riders and their horses dance to carefully choreographed patterns set to music in a Grand Prix quadrille challenge. Riders include some of the “Who’s Who” of the top equestrian competitors in the United States, Canada, Latin America, Australia and Europe. This year, the Team Gardy Bloemers/Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, comprised of Jim Koford, Allison Kavey, Noel Williams, Betsy Van Dyke, Lauren Chumley, Becky Cowden and coach Tigger Montague were crowned the winners of the 2019 Challenge of the Americas thanks to their stellar performances in front of 500 VIP guests and the sold-out General Admission grandstands.
The Challenge of the Americas has evolved over the years from an afternoon dressage exhibition and luncheon in 2002 to an under-the-lights international equestrian extravaganza and gala. Its success and continued growth is due to its partnership in the fight against breast cancer, as well as its unique and highly entertaining format that includes the elegance of the musical freestyle quadrille.
